Intro to the "WHY?" Challenge your THINKING

Updated: May 20, 2020

Intro to the “WHY?”

To start off, I want you to think of something you’ve always wanted to do, long or short term, but could never actually get around to doing it. That thought/idea is just kept in the back of your mind waiting for the “perfect/right” timing.

Well hey guess what, that’s called being human, I too am a victim of this, as we all are. So much so that there was a single term created to describe that whole scenario... “procrastination”.

We all are guilty of falling for the “trap” of such “procrastination”, or how I think of it, dream crusher.

If it’s so difficult, then how come we look up to others who achieve what we want every day? And those who do, aren’t any different from us, we are only human…

Well I’ll tell you why,

it’s not because that idea or goal in your mind isn’t possible, and you know it isn’t or else you wouldn’t be thinking about doing it every day. So why is it then that you still haven’t achieved it. Well think about, every word we’ve just talked about had to do with how you think, limits you’ve already placed in yourself, inside your own mind. Everything began with just a thought, perhaps an idea you were too embarrassed to tell anyone else. But this thought, in your mind, was already turned down because of your own thinking before even perusing action to it. Face the reality, it’s easy to think and say whatever you want, but if it’s not followed by actions, nothing will ever get accomplished.

A lot of my short-lived life (19) I shut down my own thinking until I sought guidance to start putting my plans into action. As a result, I started to achieve and put myself on a path to reach those thoughts and goals. But it wasn’t just that easy, and it still isn’t as I’m still on that path. I had to challenge and change a lot of my thinking, as I found my biggest enemy was my own mind. I’ve adapted a lot of strategies of how I’ve challenged my own thinking to change my everyday actions, thoughts, responses, and overall mood. So much so I started sharing these concepts with my close friends and family to help them improve their everyday lives in whatever goals they wish to achieve. I truly believe changing one’s thinking is the biggest yet hardest step to achieving success. If you don’t believe me, try it, no one is perfect and no matter your age, the ability to always be learning will help anyone find great success.

“Learn continually. There’s always one more thing to learn.”-Steve Jobs

Anyways enough rambling, basically that was a big introduction to a series of blog posts I’m creating to share my experience of overcoming limits we all place on ourselves without even knowing. I will challenge you to discover and change these thinking patterns in terms to achieve your version of success and happiness. Dreams shouldn’t just be dreams.

Throughout the decade we’ve seen a rising awareness built around mental health, and I could bet anyone reading this has personally experienced flaws in their life because of their own thinking, yet they may not even know it.

Each post will be a short, simple, and rewarding challenge on the way you think. Each challenge will force you to think differently and look from a new perspective to develop a shift in your thought process in one area at a time. I challenge you to try and carry out that thought process in your daily routine. At first, it will feel awkward and forceful, you’ll have to think fully about it and correct yourself when necessary, just like learning any new skill. But once your mind fully adapts and learns the new skill, I promise it will become second nature to you. In simpler terms, “Fake it till you make it.” The idea is that changing the way you think will lessen your thoughts that interfere with achieving what you want. You will know you successfully completed the challenge when you’ve found yourself adapting this new thought process and carrying out simple actions because of so.

Albert Einstein always said,

“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.”

Can you think? Then you can do it.
